The basics

What is epoxy flooring?
A two-part coating, resin plus hardener, that cures into a hard, bonded layer on top of concrete. In practice most of our floors are systems: an epoxy or polyaspartic base, a decorative layer like flake or metallic pigment, and a clear topcoat. See epoxy flooring for how the pieces fit together.
What's the difference between epoxy and polyaspartic?
Both are tough. Polyaspartic cures much faster and is UV-stable, so it won’t yellow in sunlight, which is why it’s the backbone of one-day garage systems and the usual choice for topcoats. Epoxy has a longer working time and builds thickness well. The polyaspartic page compares them side by side.
Flake or metallic: which should I pick?
Flake hides dust, tire marks and small scratches and has a little texture underfoot, so it’s the practical pick for a daily-use garage. Metallic is a showpiece with depth and movement, but it shows dust and fine scratches sooner. Browse both in the gallery.
Is epoxy safe inside a home?
Once fully cured, the floors we install are inert and used in living rooms, salons and lobbies. During install there can be odor depending on the product, so we plan ventilation and tell you when it’s fine to be back in the room.

Prep and durability

Do you grind or acid-etch?
We grind, every time. Diamond grinding with HEPA dust extraction opens the concrete so the coating bonds mechanically and removes sealers, paint and weak surface concrete. Acid etching can’t do that reliably. More on concrete grinding.
Can you coat over cracks?
We chase and fill cracks first so the surface is smooth and sealed. Be aware that a crack caused by a slab that is still moving can telegraph through any coating over time. We’ll tell you if we see that risk.
What about moisture in the slab?
Moisture vapor coming up through concrete is one of the main reasons coatings fail. Where it’s a concern we test and use a moisture-vapor-barrier primer under the system. Read why garage floor coatings fail.
Can epoxy be used outdoors?
Standard epoxy can yellow (amber) in sunlight, so outdoors we use UV-stable systems such as polyaspartic topcoats, often with a flake or texture for grip. See patio coatings and pool deck coatings.
Can a damaged floor be repaired?
Usually. Small damage can be patched and blended. Larger worn areas can be scuffed and recoated with a fresh topcoat. A good topcoat refresh can make an older floor look close to new.

Timing, cost and booking

How long does installation take?
Many garages are done in one day with a fast-cure system. Heavy repairs, old coatings or moisture primers can make it two or three days. Interiors and metallic floors usually take longer. You’ll get the timeline with your quote.
When can I walk and park on it?
With our one-day polyaspartic systems, foot traffic is often fine after about 12 hours and vehicles after about 36, depending on product and temperature. We confirm the exact numbers for your system in writing.
How much does an epoxy floor cost?
It depends on size, slab condition, repairs, the system and finish you choose, and extras like stem walls. The fastest way to a real number is the online quote builder. Our article on what drives coating cost explains the factors.
Do you offer a warranty?
Yes, a written warranty, explained before work starts. And if something fails because of our installation, we make it right. Read why we don’t sell lifetime warranties.
How do I prepare for install day?
Clear everything off the floor, plan to park elsewhere, and keep pets and kids away from the work area. We handle the surface prep. Our install-day guide has the full checklist.
How do I clean my new floor?
Dust-mop regularly and wash with a pH-neutral cleaner and a soft mop. Avoid harsh solvents and abrasive pads. Full details in our cleaning guide.
